RFID Troubleshooter
Is your RFID system underperforming? From "ghost reads" to signal interference, most hardware issues can be solved with environmental tuning. Use our diagnostic tiles below to identify and fix common read errors.
Weak or No Read Range
Symptoms: Tags only read at point-blank range or not at all.
- Match antenna polarization (Linear vs. Circular)
- Check for "On-Metal" tag requirements
- Validate coax cable length & signal loss
Ghost Reads (Over-Reading)
Symptoms: Capturing tags from adjacent rooms or dock doors.
- Reduce Reader Transmit Power (dBm)
- Implement RSSI (Signal Strength) filtering
- Apply RF shielding or "Dead Zone" masking
Metal & Liquid Interference
Symptoms: Consistent read failures near foil, liquid, or steel.
- Use foam-backed "Spaced" tags for metal
- Adjust antenna angle to avoid multipath reflection
- Relocate reader to avoid "Shadow Zones"
Tag Collision Errors
Symptoms: Multiple tags in the field causing missing data.
- Optimize Anti-Collision (Q-Algorithm) settings
- Check for "Blind Spots" in circular antennas
- Ensure tag-to-reader population density is set
